How to make Idli ?

Ingredients for Idli Recipe

# Ingredients
1. 2 cup Parboiled rice
2. 1/2 cup raw rice
3. 1 cup split black gram (Skinless)
4. 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds
5. Salt to taste

Steps of Idli Recipe

# Steps
1. Mix the Parboiled rice and raw rice in a bowl. Wash them and soak it for 3 hour.
2. In another bowl mix black gram and fenugreek seeds and soak them for 3 hours.
3. Drain the rice and blend it with 1 cup water to a coarse mixture. Remove the mixture in a deep bowl.
4. Drain black gram and grind it with 1/2 cup water to a smooth and spongy batter. Add this mixture in a rice mixture.
5. Add salt and mix the mixture well. Batter should be dropping consistency (add water if needed).
6. Cover the bowl with the lid and keep in a warm place for 10 to 12 hours to ferment.
7. Put steamer on Stove with sufficient water. And grease the idli mould with oil.
8. Mix the batter well and Pour in a greased idli mould and Steam it for 10 minutes in the steamer or till they are done.
9. Remove and serve hot with sambhar and coconut chutney.
